Capital's most wanted Sonu Dariyapur held after gunfight

Delhi's most wanted gangster Sonu Dariyapur was arrested by the police after a brief encounter on the Capital's outskirts on Thursday morning. He fired two rounds at the police party but officers — wearing bullet proof jackets — escaped unhurt. Sonu had been absconding since 2009 after he jumped parole. He was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh from Delhi Police and Rs 50,000 from Haryana Police.

A local court sent him to seven days of police custody. In April, after murdering his associate, Sonu hid in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. He never used a mobile phone and worked through social media platforms such as Facebook.
