In an attack on Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s claim on Hindu terror, RVS Mani, the former undersecretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that there was no such thing. He further alleged that the real terrorists managed to escape thanks to Digvijaya’s ‘Hindu terror conspiracy’.

“I've said this earlier too that there was no official info on Hindu terror till '10. Even after that there was no such thing. I've written a book which clearly states how Digvijaya Singh laid foundation of Hindu terror and spread it,” Mani said to news agency ANI.

Mani, a former Home Ministry official, who had filed two affidavits in Gujarat High Court in the Ishrat Jahan case, had claimed that member of the SIT on the killings had told him that 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and Parliament attack were "orchestrated by the Government in power".

In April this year, Mani further suggested that there was no Hindu terror angle in the Mecca Masjid case and the evidence was engineered. “People who perpetrated the attack (Mecca Masjid) were protected through misuse of agency (NIA), this is what is alarming. How do you compensate those who suffered and were maligned? Will Congress or anyone else who propagated this theory compensate them?”

“In the name of Hindu terror, using government resources, he (Digvijaya Singh) saved the real terrorists. Arif Qasmani, the main accused in the Samjhauta Express blast escaped. In Mecca Masjid blast case, Bilal escaped. Don't know his political agenda, but there's no Hindu terror,” Mani added.

However, Congress leader Salman Khurshid came in defence of Digvijaya Singh. “Ideologically Digvijaya Singh has very strong views. He has opposed minority extremism and said that every kind of extremism is bad. We must contextualie what he said rather than generalise it and think he is saying it against one community or organisation,” he said.
