Everybody has been feeling the heat of rising mercury however, things become frustrating when one is forced to wait tirelessly for the buses, exposed to the scorching heat at the bus stops.

Though Thane residents are braving the heat and waiting for buses at city's bus stops, they do feel the need for better equipment. Residents allege that the bus stops have been standing without shade for the past two years and even after repeated complaints and assurances, shades have not been installed.

S Ravichandran, a resident informed, "Many bus stops along the Eastern Express Highway towards Ghodbunder Road, do not have proper shades and sitting arrangement. We have also noticed shades at one side of the road at a particular bus stop while they are missing from the opposite side. But mostly, there are no shades at all."

"Sometimes we have to wait for buses for more than half an hour and it becomes extremely difficult for everyone to bear the heat. The situation worsens for senior residents, children and women," said Mitesh Sanghvi, another resident.

Residents also allege that most bus stops at Ghodbunder Road are without proper shelters, be it during summer or monsoon. The frequency of TMT buses too is unexpected., making commuters wait for more than half an hour, at times. Civic officials' apathy has reached the pith as commuters search for shades or tress and then run on seeing the bus approaching.
Shweta Srivastava, a local informed, "Be it monsoon or summer, we are worst affected. The tiring day at office starts while we wait for the bus. These days it is so hot that people fall unconscious with heat strokes. The authorities should seriously look into the trouble."

Teen Haath Naka, Louiswadi, Nitin Company, Cadbury Junction, Kapurbawdi, Vidyapeeth and Brahmand are a few bus stops which lack proper shelter and sitting arrangements. Residents from these areas demand TMT authorities to look into the problem and come up with a quick solution.

Devidas Tekale, TMT manager said, "We will conduct a survey of the bus stops without proper shelters and would provide a temporary shade. There are some bus stops where there is no shelter because road widening work is going on. For the bus stops on highways we have written a letter to the highway authority and are awaiting their response."
