In another incident of sexual assault on children, a three-year-old has been allegedly raped by a 45-year-old cleaner of a bus inside a luxury bus, while the five-year-old brother of the victim kept on banging on the bus door, begging to let go of his sister.
The Police said on Tuesday that the incident happened on Monday afternoon. Police sources said that the incident happened at Canal (West) Road of north Kolkata. The accused Sk Munna has been arrested and the girl has been admitted at the government-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Police said that she was playing with her brother when Munna enticed her into the bus with a chocolate, shut the door and allegedly raped her while her five-year-old brother kept on banging the door begging him to let go of his sister. When it didnt work, he ran to their mother for help. The victim's mother, along with some neighbours then rushed to the scene and raised an alarm. The victim was found on the seat of the bus, bleeding.
The accused was caught by area locals themselves and sources said blood stains were found on his clothes and hand at that time. "The accused has been arrested, and a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been started. Forensic experts have gathered samples from the bus. We are waiting for the medical test report of the victim as well as the forensic report," said a senior police official. The victim's mother, a widow, is a rag picker.
Dr Suddhodhan Batabyal, superintendent of the hospital said that the girl was given necessary treatment. "She had been bleeding profusely but now is stable and is responding to medicines," he said.
Although a formal report of the medical test is yet to arrive, sources at the hospital said that there were clear signs of a sexual assault on the child.
