A passenger bus turned turtle after a head-on collision with a truck on the National Highway-60 in West Bengal's Midnapore town on Wednesday morning, injuring several.

As many as 55 passengers of the bus suffered injuries, of them 15 suffered serious injuries.

Three persons continue to remain critical. All were rushed to the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital with the help of locals. Most passengers who suffered minor injuries were given first aid and discharged.

Drivers of both the bus and the truck have suffered injuries.

Locals say that the bus was on its way from Kasba to Sarenga via Midnapore. When the bus was on the NH-60, a truck suddenly lost control on the opposite side and came into a head on collision.

A huge contingent of police rushed to the spot with a crane to clear the area as the bus had turned turtle blocking transport movement on a part of the NH-60.

Meanwhile, police has begun an investigation into the case to find out whether it was the bus driver or the truck driver’s fault that led to the accident injuring many.
