The union home ministry is expected to take a call on handing over Burdwan explosion case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) very soon.

Highly placed sources said that though the prima facie evidence and the nature of recovery from the explosion site at Burdwan befits the criteria for handing the case over to the NIA, they were awaiting union home minister Rajnath Singh to give a final view.

Busy campaigning in Haryana, Rajnath Singh is expected to have a meeting with the top officials of the union home ministry, IB and RAW on Wednesday.

Trying to unearth the conspiracy, the IB and RAW understood to have picked up four suspected Bangladeshi nationals who were already on their radar for being part of arms syndicate run from Bangladeshi soil.

The two agencies are also analysing the video footage that West Bengal police had filmed during the course of destroying cache of arms and ammunition that it had found from the house in Khagragah area of Burdwan, where two people were killed in a blast while producing bombs on October 2.

Sources said they suspect a foul play on part of somebody within the government machinery for destroying the evidence whose verification could have given more details and helped to unearth the conspiracy. They are also looking with suspicion at West Bengal government's reluctance in handing over the probe to the NIA despite the case having international ramifications.

However, analysis of video footage has startled the security agencies.

"The rocket launcher in the making was highly sophisticated and was 80% complete. The circuit board meant for the explosive device was extremely advanced. We have not found such an advanced circuit board anywhere in India so far. No outfit be it the Indian Mujahideen (IM) or the LeT has ever used such a kind of circuit board," said sources in the agencies.

The highly sophisticated and advance nature of explosive devices in the making has made the agencies apprehensive of Bangladeshi terror outfits not only getting a foothold in West Bengal but also being in active touch with international terror groups.

As pamphlets and leaflets supporting al-Qaeda and Chechen rebels were also recovered from the site, the agencies are also looking at the larger conspiracy angle and trying to figure out if it connects with the al Qaeda's India branch Qaedat-al -Jihad about which al Qaeda chief Ayman al Jawahiri had boasted in a recent video message.
