Burdwan blast: Fourth arrest made, CID on the lookout for two more suspects

A suspected terrorist who was injured in the October 2 explosion in Burdwan, in which two others were killed, was today arrested taking the total number of those apprehended by the police in the case to four while the CID is on the lookout for two more suspects.

Sheikh Hakim alias Hasan Saheb of Lalgola area in Murshidabad district, who is under treatment in the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital for injuries sustained in the blast, was formally arrested during the day, the police said.

Two women -- Rajira Bibi alias Rumi, widow of the suspected terrorist Shakil Ahmed who died in the blast, and Amina Bibi, Hasan Saheb's wife, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the blast at Khagragarh here in which involvement of terror outfits like LeT and HuJI is being suspected.

The third person to have been arrested was Hafez Mollah alias Hasan. The CID had picked him up from his house at Khar Duttapa in Purbostholi, about 70 km from here on Sunday and formally arrested him in connection with the blast yesterday.

The CID is now on the lookout for two suspects - Kausar and Abdul Kalam Sheikh in connection with the case.

Kausar is suspected to have been a regular at the house in Khagragarh were the blast took place.

Abdul Kalam Sheikh is a resident of Mangalkote area of the district and the investigators are on his trail after they found seven calls made to him from a mobile phone immediately after the blast.
Sovan Mandal and Shakil Ahmed were killed in the blast in the house that the suspected terrorists had rented a few months ago. The police have also interrogated the house owner Hasan Chowdhury.
