Former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya today criticised Special EC observer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh for doing a "dangerous job" by leaving the common people under the mercy of alleged Trinamool Congress hooligans.
"The observer has done a dangerous job. They have left the common and innocent masses unguarded in the face of violence by the ruling Trinamool Congress," Bhattacharya said without naming Rakesh.
"Now the observers are putting up a smiling face and trying to project themselves as heroes," Bhattacharya said on the sidelines of a programme here.
Bhattacharya's outbursts capped allegations of malpractices during the last three phases of polls in Bengal.
Yesterday West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had slammed Election Commission special observer for West Bengal Sudhir Kumar Rakesh "for not taking pre-emptive measures to check terror and malpractices during polling" and accused him of "helping the ruling party".
