BSP fields son of Indira's assassin from Fatehgarh Sahib

BSP has fielded Sarabjit Singh Khalsa, the son of Indira Gandhi's assassin Beant Singh, from Fatehgarh Sahib (reserve) constituency.

Sarabjit(36), who had joined Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) last month, filed his nomination papers today.

As per the affidavit filed by Sarabjit, he and his wife Sandeep Kaur have movable and immovable properties having worth around Rs 3.65 crore.

BSP's Ludhiana president Gurmail Singh filed nomination papers as his covering candidate.

Sarabjit had unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha elections in 2009 from Bathinda and Punjab Assembly election from Bhadaur in 2007.

Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, bodyguards of Gandhi, had killed her on October 31, 1984. Beant Singh was killed soon after the assassination.
