BSF soldier injured in Pak firing on International Border

Two days after India and Pakistan army decided to give peace a chance, Pakistan Rangers opened fire on the International Border (IB) took resort to sniper fire at Border Security Force (BSF) jawans injuring a soldier in the Arnia sector of Jammu division.

The incident occurred at noon when BSF jawans were guarding the observation post in the Arnia sector on the IB. "At around 1200 hours, BSF Constable K Appa Rao received bullet injury in a sniper firing carried out by Pakistan Rangers. He was immediately evacuated to Jammu for medical treatment. His condition is stable," said a BSF spokesman at Jammu Frontier.

The incident came two days after India and Pakistan armies held a Battalion Commander Level Flag Meeting at Chakan–da–Bagh in Poonch Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) and decided to uphold the border ceasefire in letter and spirit.

Official figures reveal there were 285 violations by the Pakistani Army recorded till August 1 this year. Around 228 incidents of ceasefire violations were reported along the LoC and 221 incidents of ceasefire violations along the IB.

Official figures reveal that around 405 incidents of cross border firing had taken place along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir in 2015. Of this, 253 were along the IB and 152 incidents along the Line of Control.
