The BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav, who had alleged that bad quality of food was given to soldiers has been dismissed from service.

The BSF Security Force Court, which had instituted an inquiry has found him guilty on certain charges of indiscipline.

Yadav has been dismissed from service from Wednesday, following the provisions of the BSF Act and Rule.

A video by Yadav of the 29 battalion Seema Suraksha Bal, complaining about the quality of food had gone viral, triggering a flurry of reactions, with the PMO also seeking a detailed factual report on the incident.

Yadav, wearing a camouflage uniform and carrying a rifle, had claimed in the video that while government procures essentials for them, the officers "sell them off" in an "illegal" manner in the market and the personnel have to suffer.

In another video he had also claimed that he was being mentally tortured and that his phone has been tampered with to show that he has friends in Pakistan.

He had also asserted that his woes had gone unheard and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's desire to oust corruption from the nation.

However, the BSF had maintained that there was no shortage of rations at any post and security personnel deployed along the border had never complained about food. Following this, an inquiry for reported breach of discipline was instituted against Yadav.

Meanhwile, Yadav's wife Sharmila has expressed displeasure over her husband's dismissal. Speaking to DNA, she said, "He (Tej Bahadur had asked for voluntarily retirement and served the BSF for 20 years. Now this (dismissal) is disappointing, we are unhappy."

She also said that Yadav will be back home on Thursday.
