The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday arrested a 12-year-old speech and hearing impaired boy from Pakistan who appeared to have crossed the border inadvertently near Beriar outpost in this sector in Punjab.

The BSF also found a 20 rupee Pakistani note with the boy, who was wearing an embroidered kurta, traditionally worn in the neighbouring country.

"It appeared the child crossed over in the wee hours inadvertantly. He has been handed over to the Punjab Police for the next course of action," a BSF official said.

A case has also been registered against the 12-year-old.

Police said they would try to ascertain his identity with the help of a teacher from a school for the speech and hearing impaired in Faridkot.
