British Deputy High Commissioner Kumar Iyer on Thursday said that the state government deserves every possible accolade for having materialised the most modern transport network in a city like Indore.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the Indore Management Association (IMA)’s 23rd conclave that kicked off in the city at Abhay Prashal auditorium on Thursday. He termed
Indore as a hub blessed with high quality educational institutions.

Iyer said that one needs to move beyond metros towards cities like Indore where the modern means of transport have seen implementation from papers to the ground level. “The state government deserves full credit for the same,” he beamed.

Commenting on the said sluggishness in Indian economy, Iyer affirmed that the country has a vibrant economy so its future is really bright.

Expressing his views on the future of Indian economy, the deputy high commissioner claimed that the future of the country lies in the hands of energetic youths. The meritorious students of Indore will take India further on the road to development.

The United Kingdom looks forward to deep strategic relations with India and as a part of the efforts, 30 companies and seven universities are accompanying the UK delegation, he said.

Director of Aditya Birla Group, Rajshree Birla while dwelling upon the leadership concept, talked about two iconic leaders- Mahatma Gandhi and Lee Kuan Yew from Singapore.

She claimed that Gandhi with his tools of truth and non-violence established an unparalleled leadership which was inherited by great leaders like Martin Luther King Junior, Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi and many more.

“With his sheer leadership skills, Yew has transformed Singapore from a backward colonial outpost to one of the most developed countries in the world,” Birla said.

She also narrated the tale of her son Kumar Manglam Birla’s success story as he transformed his USD 2 billion company from 1995 into a USD 40 billion empire spanned in 35 countries at present.

IMA chairman Shiv Shankar Mehta congratulated one and all on the IMA’s completion of 50 years, while IMA president Shamit Dave claimed that it was a matter of great pride that the conclave is being organised consecutively for the 23 years.

Conclave Secretary Amit Bidasaria said that the theme of the conclave is ‘Leadership now-Work the Talk’.
