A day after India and China decided to end military stand-off over Doklam, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Xiamen for BRICS summit.

"At the invitation of the President of People’s Republic of China, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Xiamen in China’s Fujian province during September 3-5, 2017 to attend the 9th BRICS Summit," said MEA in a statement.

More than two months after the Doklam stand-off that saw clashes between soldiers of India and China, a breakthrough was finally achieved on Sunday after both countries agreed to disengage troops.

The Doklam stand-off emerged after the China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) construction party attempted to build a road near the Doklam area, which India objected to. Bhutan recognises Doklam as its area while China claims it as part of its Donglang region.

Last month, amid tensions between India and China, Modi 'appreciated' momentum in the BRICS bloc under the Chinese chairmanship and extended full cooperation for the grouping's upcoming summit to be hosted by Beijing.

Besides India and China, Russia, Brazil and South Africa are part of the BRICS grouping.

Prime Minister will also pay a State visit to Myanmar from September 5-7 at the invitation of HE U Htin Kyaw, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the release said.
