Brahmaputra flowing close to danger mark

River Brahmaputra in Assam was flowing in high flood situation, the government said on Sunday after monitoring the latest recordings.

"River Brahmaputra at Neamatighat in Jorhat district of Assam is now flowing in high flood situation," the Ministry of Water Resources said.

At 3 pm today, it was flowing at a level of 86.9 m with rising trend which is 1.86 m above its danger level of 85.04 m and 0.47 m below its previous High Flood Level (HFL) of 87.37m recorded on July 11, 1991.

However, the river has receded from high flood situation to moderate flood situation at Dibrugarh, the Ministry said.

At 3 pm on Saturday, it was flowing at 105.97 m with falling trend, 0.27 m above its danger level of 105.7 m and 0.51 m below its previous HFL of 106.48 m recorded on September 3, 1998, it said.
