A day after a seven-year-old student was found murdered in Ryan International School in Gurugram and a school bus conductor was arrested for it, families of both the victim and the accused, on Saturday, held the school authorities responsible for the incident and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.

On Saturday, accused Ashok Kumar, 42, was sent in to three-day judicial custody. Jyoti Thakur, the child's mother, asserted that she wanted to see the school authorities behind bars. "The principal, teachers, and director of the school must be punished as well. The conductor is not the real culprit. My son did not even know him as he never travelled in the school bus. The principal was indifferent when she came to the hospital. She must be in jail," Thakur said.

"We want a fair investigation as we doubt that there is only one accused," the child's father Varun Thakur said.

Regarding the demand for a CBI inquiry, Haryana PWD Minister Narveer Singh said: "Demanding a CBI probe has become a trend these days." He visited the Thakurs at their residence.

Meanwhile, Kumar's wife Mamta Devi insisted the school had falsely implicated her "innocent" husband. She said a case should be registered against the school for "killing a child" and "putting blame on poor conductor". "How can a father of two kill a child? He has been made a scapegoat to save someone powerful," she said.
