Condemning the death of Dalit and tribal women during government sponsored sterilisation camp in Chhattisgarh, BSP president Mayawati on Friday demanded immediate dismissal of the state health minister over the issue.

"There have been complaints of atrocities on Dalits, Adivasis, and other deprived sections of society and that they are not getting justice especially in BJP-ruled states like Gujarat and Chhatisgarh," Mayawati said in an official release. "But this incident taking place in a government camp due to inadequate arrangements and absence of medical facilities causing death of so many Dalit and Adivasi women is the most unfortunate and painful," she said.

"The insensitivity of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh in this connection is most unfortunate.. the health minister there should be immediately dismissed.. only then a just inquiry can be conducted," the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.

Condemning the silence of BJP's central leadership and National Women Commission, she said, "Though BJP leaders are very eloquent on the issue of entry of girl students in library in AMU, they are silent on the Chhattisgarh incident".

Mayawati said that the incident has also drawn the attention at the global level and would embarrass Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he meets international leaders if no action is taken against Health Minister Amar Agrawal.
