In a major boost to unity among NDA, BJP ally Shiv Sena has spurned an offer of a meeting of its leaders with TDP MPs who are currently in Mumbai. TDP MPs are in the financial capital to garner support from Sena and NCP over the no-confidence motion which they plan to bring against BJP in the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament. Sena sources even dubbed the TDP visit as 'political tourism'.

Initially, TDP leaders said that they would be meeting Sena leaders to put across their point, when it became clear that Uddhav Thackeray won't be giving them an audience. But now sources confirm that none of the Sena leaders are meeting TDP MPs, in what can be seen as a major snub Opposition forces.

Earlier it was planned that a delegation of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs will meet Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders to seek support for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.

TDP Lok Sabha floor leader Thota Narasimham along with Member of Parliament P. Ravindra Babu is meeting leaders of several parties and handover a booklet by the TDP President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu seeking support for the state's fight against 'injustice done to them'.

The TDP is looking to move no-confidence motion against Modi government over denial of special category status for the state. TDP was part of the Union Government till recently before exiting in this issue.

The party has now turned into a vocal critic of NDA and the track-record of last four years of the government.

On the other hand, Sena too is a strident critic BJP, even though it is part of the government both in Centre and Maharashtra. Amit Shah recently met Uddhav Thackeray, and many believed it was an ice-breaker between two warring allies.

After the meeting BJP leaders claimed that it was positive, though Sena downplayed it and maintained that they will contest the elections separately. However, Sena snubbing TDP shows that it is still not willing to be seen with other opposition leaders. Shiv Sena remains in NDA despite all the bluster. For now, BJP will take it.
