Bombay High Court dismisses students' petition against CET

The Bombay High Court today dismissed petitions filed by some students challenging the common entrance test for MBA courses which was held in March this year and revoked the stay on the admission process.

The division bench of Justices VM Kanade and AR Joshi was hearing petitions which had challenged the CET conducted by the state government's Directorate of Technical Education, alleging irregularities.

According to the students, the entrance test was held over four sessions. However, in one of the sessions the systems were very slow and the students did not have enough time to attempt all the questions.

The court, however, said it cannot interfere in the process. "If the same system has been adopted for all four sessions, how can you say that the process is flawed?" the judges said. "Today some students are unhappy...if we order re-examination then everyone will be unhappy," the court said.

The High Court also revoked the stay on the admission process, granted on April 23 when the petitions were filed. Around 60,000 students are seeking admission to MBA courses through the CET this year.
