Bomb like object defused near Nashik Municipal Corporation

A country-made bomb like object kept in a carton at the reception counter of a leading real estate developer's office, was found in Suyojit Complex, opposite Nashik Municipal Corporation office at the busy Sharanpur Road locality here today afternoon.

The development created panic among the people, though top police officials as well as the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) reached the spot immediately.

Two-wheelers and four wheelers were removed from parking lots and shopkeepers were asked to shut down their shops to isolate the area, after which the BDDS succeeded in defusing the object, BDDS police inspector K M Wagh told reporters.

He said that if the object had exploded, it would have caused damage within a radius of two to three metres.

The police inspected closed circuit television camera footage of the commercial complex and began investigating the reason behind why the object was place there, Sarkarwada police station in-charge Hemant Somvanshi said.
