A teenaged boy got his 25-year-old brother killed by two other juveniles in northeast Delhi's Nand Nagri area, police said on Monday.
The three juveniles, all aged over 16 years, were apprehended in the last 48 hours in connection with the murder, they said. According to police, they had found a body with as many as 47 stab injuries in a public park at Nand Nagri on Thursday.
The deceased was a youth from the same locality whose body was identified by his mother and brother. Two of the juveniles in the case were allegedly hired by the third to kill his brother and had offered Rs 20,000 for the contract, DCP (Northeast) Ajit Kumar Singla said.
When the call details of the deceased youth's mobile phone was analysed, it emerged that the last phone call he had received was from one of the three juveniles. Police zeroed in on him and took him in for questioning, during which he confessed to having murdered the youth along with another juvenile. He also said he had flushed his SIM card in a toilet to avoid getting tracked by police.
After the second of the juveniles was apprehended, the duo disclosed that they were paid Rs 20,000 by the brother of the deceased, also a juvenile. Thereafter, police apprehended the third teenager, who told them that he got his brother killed as he used to hit their mother and often got into fights with other family members.
Police said that on Wednesday, one of the juveniles called the victim on the phone and asked him to join him and another friend (the second juvenile) over drinks. Once they were drunk, one of the juveniles held the victim while the other stabbed him multiple times. The duo fled the scene leaving the body lying in a pool of blood.
One of the juveniles threw the deceased person's mobile phone in a garbage dump, which the other juvenile, however, retrieved secretly. The phone was later recovered by the police. One of the juveniles also sustained an injury on his thigh with the same knife that was allegedly used in the murder.
Police also recovered their blood-stained clothes. "We are also in the process of writing to the Juvenile Justice Board urging them to act in view of the amended Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, under which juveniles over 16 years can be treated like adults in cases of heinous offences," he said.
