Intelligence agencies have spotted small rubber boats at various launch pads along the Line of Control and the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, DNA has learnt.

Agencies suspect that terrorists are likely to use the inflatable rubber boats to infiltrate into India soil, said sources. This discovery has prompted authorities to intensify patrol along the border.

Sources said 13 major and small water bodies, near the IB, have been identified in Akhnoor, Samba and Kathua sectors for increased vigil. Gurej, through which the Kishanganga river runs, and the road to Gilgit have also been put on high alert.

Agencies say terrorists are likely to use the Krishna Ghati river routes for infiltration. In 2011, forces had foiled terrorists’ plan to enter the Indian side via small water bodies.

“Pakistan has built 30 launch pads along the LoC to infiltrate militants into the regions of Karen, Gurez, and Gulmarg,” the latest inputs received by the Indian security agencies suggest.” Pakistan army and the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) are moving militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed into these launch pads.”
