Though they had contested as rebels, two independent corporators Snehal More from Vikhroli and Tulsidas Shinde from Dindoshi came back to join Shiv Sena at Matoshree on Friday. Both the corporators had protested for not being given tickets and had contested against the opposite party's official candidate. With this, the Shiv Sena's tally has now gone up to 86.

Interestingly, Uddhav Thackeray had appealed to all the rebels to withdraw their names from the fray or else face action from the party. He was very vocal about the fact that under no circumstances would the party forgive the rebels who worked against the party. But on Friday, Thackeray warmly welcomed both More and Shinde back into the fold. However, the fate of the other rebels who lost the election is yet to be known and only time will tell whether Thackeray will forgive and welcome them back as well.

Sudhir More, a former corporator from Vikhroli Parksite area who has also served as Vibhag Pramukh of Ghatkopar - Mankhurd area, had sought a ticket for his brother's wife Snehal. However, after the party leaders denied the ticket, More decided to quit the party and prove that he had a reasonable base in the area where he had been working since more than two decades. Snehal More won the election on Thursday and on Friday, More decided to join the party again.

Tulsidas Shinde was Shakha Pramukh from Dindoshi area in the western suburbs and had been working for the party in the area. Shinde happens to be the relative of Shiv Sena minister Eknath Shinde. Party sources claim that MLA Sunil Prabhu had objected against the candidature of Shinde. But after winning the election, he decided to join the party again.

In the fiercely contested BMC polls, the ruling BJP finished close second to Shiv Sena, while it pulled off a stellar performance in other civic and local bodies polls winning in eight out of the 10 municipal corporations.

In the counting of votes held on Thursday for the BMC polls, Shiv Sena won 84 seats, BJP secured 82, Congress was relegated to the third position with 31 seats, whereas the NCP and Raj Thackeray-led MNS got 9 and 7 seats, respectively
