A day after columnist and socialite Shobhaa De was told off by the Mumbai police over a picture of a hefty policeman, she issued an apology on Twitter.
De on Tuesday had created controversy when she posted the picture of the cop sitting on a chair with the tag line "Heavy police Bandobast in Mumbai today!"

The tweet went viral just few minutes after it was posted and comments and criticism on the tweet started coming in. Though, she had not tagged Mumbai police in the post, she received a reply from them which said, "We love puns too Ms De but this one is totally misplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you."

A day after, however, De apologised, with a tweet saying, "Mumbai/Maharashtra Police, pranaam. No offence intended. M.P. police, consult a dietician,if it's an asli, undoctored image doing the rounds," she tweeted.

Twitter also wasn't forgiving with a number of individuals asking the writer to get professional help.
@DeShobhaa and you please consult a therapist. Calm your mind. Think logic Talk logic.

@DeShobhaa Imagine the outrage if a man had suggested the same to a woman

Some even questioned De's credentials as a journalist with someone asking her to think of an alternative career.
@DeShobhaa ma'am, you forwarded the picture without any proof despite being a journalist. I recommend u should try a different profession.
