Blow for AAP, MLA Ved Parkash resigns and joins BJP

In a blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Municipal polls, its party MLA from Bawana, Ved Parkash, resigned on Monday and joined the BJP. 

The move comes at a time when all parties have started fierce campaigning for the upcoming civic polls. "I'm going to resign from Delhi assembly and am joining the BJP. Around 30-35 MLAs are upset in AAP," he said, while addressing a press conference at the BJP office here. 

"Now, I want to work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and don't want any post in the party," he said. AAP also confirmed the development, even as no official statement has been made from the party as of now.  Polling for 272 wards of south, north and east minimal corporations will be held on April 23 and the results will come out in April 26.
