Blockchain technology could soon make a foray into the hospitality industry.

At the 8th Annual Convention of the HPMF, trade players held a discussion to explore the opportunities, stressing that the introduction of the technology will cut out unnecessary corruption in the industry.

The panelists were Ajay Kapoor, VP Procurement at Canara HSBC OBC Life Insurance, Sunil Kuttan, Deputy General Manager of Gourmet Investments, Nanda Kumar Parameshwar, COO and Co-founder of Foodlinked, Narendra Singh, Senior Manager of Purchase at The Lalit, Pralay Dutta, Assistant Purchase Manager at The Westin Kolkata, Rajarhat, and hospitality technologist Ravish Jhala.

The panel discussion was moderated by Harish Chandra, head of IT at Sarovar Hotels Gurgaon.

Kapoor said that after plastic currency, the technology introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto, blockchain will be the next big thing, and it will serve as a platform for crypto currency.
