After a grand welcome by West Bengal state BJP on his first visit to Kolkata after being formally inducted into BJP, former TMC second-in-command Mukul Roy held a bunch of printouts as a forewarning to the ruling dispensation said he would have a lot to say at the public meeting on November 10.

“There are so many political things which I need to say. BJP workers have called for a public meeting on November 10 in Kolkata. I will say those at the meeting because there will be many BJP workers there for whom there should be something new to say,” he said on Monday while interacting with mediapersons, without giving a hint about what the papers were about.

The 63-year-old former TMC Rajya Sabha member who had been used to slogans of ‘Ma Maati Manush’ around him was greeted with ‘Jay Shree Ram’ at the airport and was brought to the state BJP office at Muralidhar Sen Lane in a hoodless car, flanked by state BJP leaders and workers on bikes and cars.

On his arrival, among the first things that he said was that he would be working under state BJP president Dilip Ghosh. “Nationally my captain is Amit Shah and in Bengal my captain is Dilip Ghosh. I will work under him towards winning  power in West Bengal. They have done a lot of positive work in Bengal and are very close to coming to power. I am sure the next step for BJP would be to come to power here,” he said. He also urged all from TMC to join BJP. “BJP is very close to reaching its target. We had struggled while working with TMC to bring about a change but the intended change had not been brought. If you want a real change, come to BJP,” he said.

Asked by DNA if he had joined BJP under pressure from central investigating agencies, he said, “Does that mean whoever is summoned by CBI will join BJP?” Interestingly, Ghosh had, on Sunday, compared Roy with pickle and said, “Pickle adds taste rice and lentils. We have the rice and lentils ready. So pickle will make the meal better.”

Trinamool national secretary general Partha Chatterjee said they were too busy to notice what Roy was up to. “We are busy with our developmental work and protest programmes against the Centre on issues like demonetization and GST. There is no time to waste on who is saying or doing what,” he said.
