In a veiled attack on the BJP-led Central government, Rajasthan PCC president Sachin Pilot today alleged that the ruling party had no role in India's freedom struggle and was "conspiring to twist history with mean mentality".

He was addressing the party workers at PCC headquarters here while celebrating country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's 125th birth anniversary.

"This is very unfortunate that today's ruling political party (BJP) that has no contribution in India's freedom struggle, is conspiring to twist history with mean mentality," he said. "Even after sitting on the top position (Centre), they can not eradicate history. It was Pandit Nehru and Saradar Patel who shaped India in real form before and after independence," Pilot said.

He called upon the party workers to communicate and spread message of Pandit Nehru's ideology, his personality and contribution to the nation as the first Prime Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said Pandit Nehru was first follower of Mahatma Gandhi and he had left images of his working and personality in the world. It was Pandit Nehru who founded India's infrastructure, science and technology and other sectors of Industries, Gehlot said.
