Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prakash Javadekar on Saturday said the party will be taking up irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks issue in the upcoming session of the parliament.

"The CBI is not expeditiously investigating it. As a result, we are going to raise this issue in the upcoming session of the parliament," said Javadekar.

According to various news reports, Attorney General Goolam Essaji Vahanvati had admitted on Friday that "something had gone wrong" during the allocations of coal blocks in the past. However, his office rubbished the reports.

Reacting to the reports, Javadekar questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI),' reluctance' to probe two former junior coal ministers - Dasari Narayana Rao and Santosh Bagrodia - and officials of the Prime Minister's Office.

So far the CBI has registered 14 FIRs (First Information Report) and three preliminary enquiries (PEs) in its probe of the coal blocks allocation scam. The CBI is looking into allocation made between 2006 and 2009 when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was also in charge of the coal ministry.
