With state-of-the-art technology and LED lights, the BJP will set off 403 campaign vehicles in Uttar Pradesh to touch each of the poll-bound state’s assembly constituency.

This will follow the four ‘parivartan yatras’ beginning from Sahranpur on Saturday in a Volvo buses with images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah besides four leaders from state, in the absence of a chief ministerial candidate.

The four state leaders are union ministers Rajnath Singh, Kalraj Mishra and Uma Bharti besides the BJP’s UP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya, underlining the BJP’s strategy to reach out to non-Yadav OBC vote and the Upper castes. Singh, a former chief minister, is a Thakur, Mishra a Brahmin while both Bharti and Maurya are non-Yadav OBCs.

The party is also roping in central ministers belonging to other states into the UP yatras. Sources said the ministers have been asked to spend at least three-four days in the state in the run-up to the polls early next year.

They said the 403 campaign vehicles will be launched in December in a bid to connect the workers on the ground with the people. However, the details were still being worked out, they said.

BJP General Secretary Arun Singh said the party has decided on seven radio jingles in Hindi with themes like atrocities against women, land mafia and corruption and take on the ruling Samajwadi Party and Mayawati’s BSP.

Besides, the party’s theme number for the state rendered by  Udit Narayan will be played in the backdrop of the campaign.

The yatra buses have slogans like “na goonda raj, na bhrashtachar, abki baar BJP sarkar (neither goonda raj, nor corruption, this time it will BJP govt)” and “poorna bahumat, sampoorna vikas, BJP par hai vishwas (complete majority, comprehensive development, we have faith in BJP).”
