In the forthcoming general elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to retain power in 2019, asserted Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday adding that the coming polls is not a challenge to the ruling party.

Singh said he was confident about his party's chances as there has been no allegation of any "serious corruption" in the last 4.5 years of the present NDA government. "You know the situation of the past Congress governments (on the corruption issue)," he said referring to previous cases of corruption during the UPA regime.

"The coming Lok Sabha election is not a challenge for us. We are going to form the next government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People of the country are with us," Singh said after laying the foundation stone of a Kendriya Vidyalaya at a CISF camp.

Mocking at the opposition rally organised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Union minister said the attempt to form a 'mahagatbandhan' showed how much the other parties feared the BJP.

"They (mahagathbandhan parties) are afraid that the BJP will form government again... We are assured that the people are with us. We also have a strong and popular leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the common man has faith in us," he said.

During the event, he also said that the information technocrats are contributing to nation building as India has emerged as the software hub. Saying that a few misguided youth, however, are using these very skills for anti-social activities by being influenced by the extremist groups such as the Al-Qaeda, he called upon teachers to impart the right values and moral education to the students besides academic subjects.

Singh said the new Central School would be a boon to the Central Armed Police Forces personnel (CAPF) since three CAPF Forces have camps here in the neighbourhood.
