BJP leaders will once again move Supreme Court regarding the forthcoming panchayat polls in West Bengal. Party national general secretary and co-observer for Bengal, Kailash Vijayvargiya said that intended Panchayat poll candidates had been barred from filing their nominations, in violation of the SC orders.

Vijayvargiya had held the State Election Commission (SEC), state government and the Trinamool Congress party as the reason why BJP contenders were not allowed to file their candidature. He alleged that in spite of getting an extra day under the direction of the High Court, BJP candidates were not allowed to file their nominations.

He said that on Monday there had been 526 clashes across the state in which 500 BJP workers had been injured and one had been killed.

Sources said that video clippings of violence across the state would be compiled and submitted to the President Ram Nath Kovind.

Other than the death of Sk Dildar whose death had triggered a tug of war between BJP and TMC regarding Dildar’s political identity, BJP leaders also said that their workers at Basirhat in North 24 Parganas and BJP party office in South 24 Parganas had also been razed. Police inaction has also been alleged.

“On the one hand our party people had been attacked by TMC workers and later on the other hand police had arrested the BJP people, holding them guilty of violence. This type of lawlessness is not found anywhere in the world,” Vijayvargiya said.
