To send a strong message to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, BJP sources said that party president Amit Shah had instructed that there should be a gathering of at least one lakh persons in the meeting of the Yuva Morcha (party’s youth wing), on August 3.

Sources also said that Shah had asked state party leadership to ensure that BJP leaders from all the states are present at the meeting. West Bengal BJP leaders are leaving no stones unturned to make Shah’s public meeting in Kolkata, the first one after Panchayat elections, a roaring success.

During his last visit to Bengal, Shah had addressed party supporters at a meeting in Purulia district, but this one would be in Kolkata.

National youth leader of BJP Saurav Sikdar said that everyone had seen the number of people that had gathered at Purulia for Shah’s meeting and now they would see the rest at Shah’s meeting in Kolkata. He also said that preparations are on for Shah to ring the ‘death knell’ for Mamata on August 3. “BJP workers were attacked in Bengal by the TMC. If the Bengal state government could not ensure the security of the BJP workers, then the TMC will pay its price,” he said.

Interestingly on August 3, the youth wing leaders of Bengal are planning to gherao the West Bengal state assembly. The Central leadership of the party has given its go-ahead with it. National Yuva Morcha leader and party MP Poonam Mahajan is also likely to be present at the event.

TMC leaders, however, said BJP leades knew it would be difficult to gather the numbers in Bengal. "They dont have enough support in Bengal and that is why they are bringing in people from outside the state," said senior TMC leader and state minister Firhad Hakim.
