With the intention of giving ample time for canvassing to its candidates in the Lok Sabha election, BJP is likely to announce the first list by the end of this month. It will be finalised by the Central Election Committee (CEC) by the last week of January after national executive and national council meetings are over on January 19.
“The idea behind early announcement is to give our candidates enough time for campaigning in the constituency and prepare for the polls. The exercise is a part of the ‘ghar ghar Modi’ campaign in which party workers and candidates will be visiting each household within their constituencies and spread party’s message and vision for the polls,” said the sources.
Last month, in a meeting of BJP chief ministers in the national capital, the central leadership had asked the state units to provide the list of probable candidates by the end of January. Also, they were instructed to provide at least two to three probables in each of the constituencies.
