A delegation of BJP leaders called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking his intervention into rising violence against political opponents in Odisha in the aftermath of Panchayat elections in the state. Another delegation also petitioned National Commission for women on the issue.
After meeting the Home Minister, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who led the delegation, said a poor woman was brutally attacked in Kalikuda village under Ersamma Police station limits in Jagatsinghpur for voting for BJP. He said at least 10 people have been killed during and after panchayat elections in Odisha. "The support base of the ruling BJD is shrinking and the ruling party has become violent," the Minister said. Party Spokesperson Sambit Patra, among others, accompanied him.
