In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has drawn up an elaborate plan involving a series of outreach programmes to reach out to the voters and consolidate its support base.

These programmes include Kamal Jyoti celebrations, Kamal Sandesh Yatra, Shakti Kendra Sammelan (power-centre meetings), Mera Pariwar Bhajpa Pariwar (my family is BJP family), Buddhijiwi Sammelan (meetings with intellectuals), Stri Shakti Sammelan (women power conclave), Sainik Samman Karyakram (programme in honour of soldiers), party sources said.

As part of Kamal Jyoti, BJP's cadre will reach out to beneficiaries of the government's schemes, and light lamps at each such house. There are estimated to be 22 crore beneficiaries across the country, and every party worker has been assigned at least 10 such persons.

The Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot campaign had already started several months ago as part of the BJP's booth-level strengthening drive.

Party sources say they will conduct Shakti Kendra Sammelans at every polling station. A party leader said every polling station will be considered a "shakti kendra". Party workers will gather at these spots and take a pledge to bring back the Modi government.

The Kamal Sandesh Yatra involves a series of motorcycle rallies across every Assembly segment of the country, and karyakartas will criss-cross these segments carrying party flags and banners.

As part of 'Mera Pariwar Bhajpa Pariwar', BJP flags will be hoisted in front of the houses of party workers, supporters and beneficiaries of the Modi government's schemes.

In addition, the party is also planning Shakti Kendra Sammelan in various districts of the country to invite more women into the party fold, while meetings involving intellectuals have also been planned in every parliamentary constituency of the country.

Under the Sainik Samman Karyakram, BJP workers will visit the families of soldiers, former soldiers and martyred soldiers, and pay their respects. "Supporters are firm in their support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has his fingers on the pulse of the nation," said BJP spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri.

A series of programmes have also been lined up for February 11, the death anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, one of the founders of Jan Sangh, the predecessor of the BJP. On the occasion, the party will reiterate that 'Modinomics' and the government's sheet anchor 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' are linked to Upadhyay's ideals of ekatma manavad (integral humanism) and his philosophy of antyodaya (empowering the underpowered), sources say.

Meanwhile, the BJYM, the youth wing of the party, has organised a series of programmes to connect with youth, first-time voters and millennials. They have coined the slogan 'Lakshya humara, Modi dobara'.
