Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Kripal Yadav on Wednesday condemned the move of the Nitish Kumar-led government to withdraw the Z-category security coverage of former union minister George Fernandes, saying this reflects the mindset of those in power in Bihar.

"It is very sad that the name of honourable George Fernandes has been withdrawn from Z-category security coverage. This mindset was quite visible from the very beginning. The manner in which George Sahab had to face humiliation, he was not allotted a ticket? So, this has been the mindset of the government from the very beginning," Yadav told ANI here.

"The government and the chief minister have the same mindset. Today again we see that they have removed the name of the person, who should have his name in the VVIP list. This is very sad and condemnable," he added.

The Bihar Government has in the latest exercise to review security of VVIPs withdrawn the Z-category security coverage of Fernandes. A notification issued by Bihar's Home Department yesterday said Fernandes has been taken out of the list of VVIPs provided security net. The decision in this regard was taken on the recommendation of a meeting of the state security committee recently.
