Hectic parleys have started between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and BJP to break stalemate over the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

BJP's point man Ram Madhav was rushed to Srinagar in a special plane on Wednesday evening to meet PDP president Mehbooba Mufti in a bid to resurrect the alliance that has hit the dead end after the demise of chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7.

Both parties had kept the meeting confidential until former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah bare it all on the twitter tipping off the media about the `most kept secret'. "Unscheduled flight VTJSG just landed in Srinagar after normal operation hours. Something is cooking with the PDP-BJP government formation", Omar tweeted.

Ram straight away drove to Mehbooba's Gupkar residence and held one hour meeting with her to discuss the government formation. Ram did not speak to media and rushed to the airport to fly back to Delhi in a special plane.

Sources said Ram had come with a message from BJP top brass to re-stitch the alliance and reassure Mehbooba that the party is committed to agenda of alliance formed after two months of hectic negotiations last year which paved the way for first ever PDP-BJP government headed by late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Mehbooba Mufti has been demanding certain Jammu and Kashmir-specific confidence building measures (CBMs) to be taken by the Modi government in order to create a positive environment that boosts confidence and trust.

PDP has been demanding vacating of private lands from the occupation of the security forces, handing over the NHPC run power projects to state government, engaging separatists in talks and renegotiating the economic package to give more compensation to the flood hit people of the state.

Even as the talks are on to break the stalemate, the PDP is gearing up for massive membership drive in the state. PDP is planning a grand workers convention in Srinagar on Sunday which will be presided over by Mehbooba
"The convention will through open the membership drive in the state with an objective to expand the party base. All leaders exuded confidence that convention at Srinagar will give a desired flip to party activity and will take the party's massage to gross roots," said a PDP spokesman.
