Union minister P Radhakrishnan today dismissed the allegations that the BJP was behind the arrest of AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dhinakaran by Delhi Police in a bribery case.

The minister also claimed that "bigger" scandals might surface if the case is investigated properly.

"Whoever commits the wrong should reap the punishment..

There is no need for the BJP to push for the action against Dhinkaran or break any party," he told reporters here.

Dhinakaran had been arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe the Election Commission. "This is not the height of the scandal. If proper investigation is conducted, bigger scandals will come to light," Radhakrishnan, a senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, said.

Dhinkaran was arrested late last night by the Delhi police after a through grilling. He was remanded by a court today in police custody for five days.

Some state leaders, including Dhinkaran loyalist Nanjil Sampath, have blamed the BJP for his arrest.

On the bandh held yesterday in response to a call by the DMK over the farmers issue, he said, "It was not for the benefit of the farmers. It was organised by those who could not face the elections."
