BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kakade, who landed himself in a controversy for (accurately) predicting through a survey his party's dismal performance in the Gujarat elections, has conducted a fresh survey in Pune which forecasts his candidature for the Pune Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket in next year's general elections.

Kakade is confident he will win the Pune seat with a margin of over 3.5 lakh votes. Currently, Anil Shirole is the BJP MP from Pune LS seat.

When Kakade was asked why the BJP will think of another candidate while Shirole is already there as an MP, he said, "My party's focus is to attract the young generation and I have already made 1.5 lakh members for the party in Pune. The party will decide who has the merit to win from the Pune seat and on the basis of that merit, it will give a ticket to the right candidate."

Kakade also claimed that he has already started the groundwork ahead of next year's elections. "There are eight MLAs and 128 BJP corporators in Pune Lok Sabha constituency. I have already planned to give ten volunteers for every corprorator and MLA to reach out to voters. I am ready with nearly ten thousand volunteers to work for the party in Pune. I have started the work through my volunteers," Kakade said.

Kakade is known for carrying out his own surveys for elections. In the recently held Gujarat elections, he had sent his own team to carry out a survey and had predicted the anti-incumbency factor against his party in the state. He had also stated that if the BJP wins in Gujarat, it will be only and only because of Narendra Modi.

Before the prediction about Gujarat elections, Kakade had predicted that the BJP would win 92 seats in the Pune Municipal elections and had promised to quit politics in case the number turned out to be less than 92. BJP won 98 seats in the elections.

Now, he has carried out the survey of eight assembly seats in Pune, all held by the BJP and has claimed that out of eight seats, there are four seats which are in the danger zone. "The survey shows that four of our eight MLAs in Pune are in the danger zone ahead of the next assembly elections. However, my ground work for Lok Sabha election will help these four MLAs revive their positions," the MP said.

When asked if he will continue to work for the party if BJP gives a ticket to another candidate, he said, "I have already conveyed my wish of contesting Lok Sabha elections from Pune to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and I am confident that the party will not deny me the ticket. Even if it decides to give the ticket to another candidate, I will continue to work for the party and for that candidate but I am sure that that will not happen," he said.
