Amid sporadic incidents of violence between the CPI-M and RSS cadres in the state, a district-level BJP leader on Tuesday threatened its political rivals with dire consequences.

While addressing a protest march, BJP district president for Trivandrum S Suresh said there is peace at nearby Parasala and Anavoor due to the RSS' 'generosity' despite repeated attacks on its cadres, allegedly by CPI-M workers.

"Once the generosity ends, the situation will go out of control. We will go after the hands and heads of those who attack us," he added.

Suresh was inaugurating a march organised to protest the recent attacks on RSS workers in these two towns.

In the latest incident elsewhere, an RSS worker Choorakad Biju was hacked to death, allegedly by CPI(M) activists, at Payannur in Kannur district on May 12.

It was the first incident of political violence after peace talks were held between leaders of the CPI(M) and BJP- RSS in Kannur in January.

Two CPI(M) workers were arrested from Kannur on May 15 for their alleged roles in the killing, which had led to the BJP and the CPI (M) levelling allegations and counter- allegations.

Union minister J P Nadda had yesterday said that the LDF government should take moral responsibility for such incidents and had charged the state government with not having "the political will" to fight out the violence and killings.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, on the other hand, had hit out at BJP for demanding imposition of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Acts (AFSPA) in Kannur, saying the party should remember that 1,528 fake encounters and killings had been reported in Manipur, where the act was imposed The issue also figured in the state assembly, where Vijayan said a case would be registered against the BJP state president, if necessary, for allegedly "spreading false" reports related to the killing of the RSS worker in Kannur.
