Alleging that the ongoing probe into the multi-crore medicine scam in going nowhere, Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday again demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

"The ongoing probe into the alleged multi-crore medicine purchase scam is going nowhere as the state government has not fixed terms of reference and time frame to those officials probing the matter," he told reporters in Patna.

No official had been suspended or action taken against any even months after the alleged medicine purchase scam came to light months ago, Modi said. At a time when the state government should have shown commitment to get to bottom of the facts and brought culprits to book, the ongoing parallel probe by the Principal Secretary (Health) Deepak Kumar Singh and the Secretary (Health) Anand Kishore appeared to meandering towards nowhere, Modi said.

Alleging that the said medicine purchase scam took place during the period when the former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held the health porfolio, he said that no government official could muster courage to prove involvement of his own boss in any matter referring to Singh being the Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and having served in the same capacity with Kumar too earlier.

Modi also questioned the chief minister for his statement that the state agency was competent to probe the scam saying that the latter must clarify as to which committee and agencies were probing the matter.
