BJP on Wednesday filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Aam Aadmi Party for allegedly defaming the party by making fake calls and offering bribes to several of its own MLAs impersonating leaders of the saffron party.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwani Upadhyay has written a complaint to Police Commissioner BS Bassi, demanding through investigation and the persons behind this be punished as per law.

"It gave me an utter shock by going through the news of such matters. It is pertinent to mention that during that period, the leaders of AAP made several statements falsely and deliberately accusing the leaders of BJP for making telephonic calls to the MLAs of AAP and offering bribe to support the BJP in Delhi," Upadhyay said in his complaint.

On Tuesday, former AAP MLA Rajesh Garg alleged that calls, with Arvind Kejriwal's "consent", were made to several party MLAs impersonating officials from Union Ministers Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari's office and offering them crores of rupees to support BJP, prompting the saffron party to demand a public apology from Delhi Chief Minister.

"The falshood by the AAP has malinged the reputation of the BJP in the country as well as in the national capital," he also said.
