BJP on Thursday used the accusations levelled by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Vinod Kumar Binny to attack Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government charging it with "compromising" with corruption and "duping" the people of Delhi.
The main opposition party also demanded immediate suspension of Law Minister Somnath Bharti arguing that a person who has been indicted for breaking laws cannot be the Law Minister himself.
Speaking at a press conference here, BJP state unit chief Vijay Goel claimed the way AAP has been functioning as "the B team of Congress" was today further confirmed by Binny.
"This government got 28 seats on the issue of corruption, they had associated themselves with the Anna Hazare movement and said we would run a campaign against corruption and will give corruption-free governance," he said.
Commenting on Binny's allegation that Kejriwal shares a "close friendship" with Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit, Goel said his (Kejriwal's) association with Sandeep Dikshit is proved by the fact that they have not even ordered an inquiry against the previous Sheila Dikshit government in "serious charges" of corruption like the Commonwealth Games scam, leave alone acting on them.
"Now, they are even asking us to bring evidence. It means corruption has been totally left out. It means that this government has totally compromised with corruption and the way it has been going on, there would be no surprise if they withdraw charges against Sheila Dikshit," he said.
The BJP chief said the people of Delhi should understand that they (AAP) have nothing to do with them, "they are here just to loot innocent people".
"Today their own MLA has proved that they take decisions behind closed doors. Four or five people finalized tickets for assembly elections and they are finalizing Lok Sabha tickets also. They duped people in the name of signature campaign, referendums as if everything is done after consulting them," he said.
Stepping up his attack on the Chief Minister, Goel said "he would be remembered as 'Ghamandi Kejriwal' (arrogant Kejriwal) instead of Arvind Kejriwal due to his style of functioning," he said.
Demanding immediate suspension of Somnath Bharti, Goel made a veiled attack on Kejriwal saying people who were talking about ethics and morality are today trying to save their ministers.
He said if Bharti is not sacked by January 26, BJP will launch an indefinite protest against him.
Talking about the ruling by Special CBI judge Poonam Bamba in a case in August, 2013 that the conduct of Pawan Kumar and his advocate (Bharti) "is not only highly objectionable and unethical but also amounts to tampering with evidence", Goel said he has written a letter to the Bar Council urging it to revoke Bharti's practicing licence in the wake of the indictment.
He also accused the AAP government of neglecting the people of Delhi and taking decisions in a hurry to build its pitch for Lok Sabha elections.
"I don't understand that the government which is elected for five years is in such a hurry to take decisions. They are ignoring the interests of the people of Delhi and taking decisions keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections," he said.
BJP Secretary Arti Mehra, who was also present at the press conference, said AAP got 28 seats by "misleading" the people of Delhi
Mehra, who lost the assembly elections against Bharti from Malviya Nagar seat, said she handed over a memorandum to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to take action against the Law Minister yesterday and if still no action is taken by him, she will stage an indefinite protest in this regard.
Referring to the gangrape of the Danish woman, Mehra said "I want to ask Arvind Kejriwal who used to talk so much about women security in the city, where is that sensitivity after coming to power"?
Former BJP state unit head, Vijendra Gupta took a dig at Kejriwal's comment that Congress is nowhere in the picture and the next general election will be fought between BJP and AAP.
"Yes, Congress is not anywhere. It is with them," he said.
