Former MP Ramsheth Thakur who along with his son and MLA Prashant Thakur switched over to BJP said, "BJP is the party for common man." Addressing their supporters at market yard in Panvel, Ramsheth Thakur said, "After resigning as MLA, Prashant had decided not to contest polls, but there was a lot of pressure from our supporters and then it was decided during a meeting that instead of contesting the elections independently, he (Prashant Thakur) should contest on BJP ticket since the party was working for the welfare of people."

Ramsheth Thakur said, "It was indecisiveness on the part of Congress leadership that led Prashant to shift to BJP." He added, "Soon a function will be held in Panvel wherein I along with Prashant will formally join BJP."
Several supporters of Ramsheth Thakur's too are likely to join BJP along with them. Addressing supporters, Prashant Thakur said, "The Congress leadership has always tried to create hurdles in public welfare matters. The chief minister has not taken decisions on several matters of importance to Panvel. I had no option but to quit the party. The decision to fight elections and join BJP was taken only after due consultations with supporters."

Meanwhile, several supporters of Ramsheth Thakur's tendered their resignation from Congress and are all set to join BJP along with their leader.
