Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal on Sunday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command will decide on whether they will form a coalition government in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena.

"The final result is yet to come, once we get that the high command will sit together and decide," Goyal said when asked whether the BJP will form a coalition government with the Shiv Sena.

As per latest trends, the BJP is the single largest party in the state but is falling short of a majority to form the government.

Goyal praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah for his party's splendid performance in Maharashtra, saying that their campaigning has brought the BJP close to achieving majority despite the parting of ways with the Shiv Sena.

"The party that for over decades has fought from only 119 seats has in these elections won 119 seats. This is the result of Prime Minster Modi and Amit Shah campaigning in the state. In only 20 days, we are on the verge of winning more seats than we used to contest from," Goyal said.

"After many years, a party has won over 100 seats in Maharashtra," he added.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena hinted that it may reconcile with the BJP to form the government in Maharashtra provided its estranged ally comes forward with such an offer.

"The BJP and Shiv Sena are the top two parties. If Uddhavji gets a proposal from the BJP, it shall be discussed," said Shiv Sena leader Anil Desai.
