Shortly after Biplab Kumar Deb took oath as CM of first BJP-led government in Tripura, PM Modi addressed a mass gathering in Agartala. In his speech, PM thanked the people of Tripura  for bringing about a change in government after 25 years. However, PM also reached out to the opposition of the state and said all should work together for benefit of Tripura.

PM said in his speech, " Today is a historic day for Tripura. It feels like the state is celebrating Diwali. We are lighting the lamp of progress and prosperity. There is new vigour and enthusiasm here. I congratulate all those who have taken oath and wish them the very best as they begin their work". Emphasising on significance of the Tripura win, PM Modi said, " In the history of India, there are some elections that will always be discussed. The 2018 Tripura elections will be one such example. People will continue to discuss these polls".

Reaching out to all people of Tripura, PM Modi said," am here to assure the people of Tripura- this BJP government is for people who voted for us and for those who did not vote for us. Elections are over and we have to look ahead. We will serve every citizen of Tripura". PM even had a message for the opposition, whom he had brutally attacked during the elections.

Reminiscing about his lost association with North-East, PM Modi said that he used to come here for party work earlier. Modi also recalled how he and many ministers of his cabinet have frequently visited North-East post 2014.

PM Modi said, " The Central Government will support the new Government of Tripura as they fulfil the dreams of people. Tripura's dreams are our dreams as well".

He ended his speech by speaking in Bengali by thanking people for finally changing the government in Tripura.
