Hitting back at the Congress for taking potshots at Narendra Modi over putting his suit on the block, BJP said on Wednesday it reflects the falling standards of Congress' politics and attacked its leader Rahul Gandhi for his "clouded image" of seeing only the exterior and not the actions and deeds of the Prime Minister.

BJP said there was a big difference between the thoughts of the two parties as Congress leaders are born with a silver spoon and dynastic mindsets.

"Such statements reflect falling standards of Congress politics... It depicts that the Congress is not only losing political capital along with electoral base, but its standards of politics are also falling. Probably, they are unable to digest that an ordinary person like Modi has risen to such a position and that is why the Congress is attacking him like this," BJP Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said.

Attacking Rahul Gandhi, he said the Congress Vice President is the scion of dynastic politics where leaders believe that the whole country belongs to them and are unable to see the actions and deeds of other people.

"Rahul Gandhi is also a scion of the same dynasty. Princes tend to have a clouded vision of things. They tend to pay more attention on the clothes and the exterior rather than the individual. He tends to pay attention on the presentation rather than the action and deeds of Modi," Trivedi said.

He said Congress is frustrated by its continuous defeats in elections in the past two years and is thus lowering its political standards by raising such issues. The BJP leader said it was unfortunate that Congress was making a political issue out of it as his party had never commented on the 'ostentatious' lifestyles of former Congress Prime Ministers despite reading much about them.

Trivedi that there is a big difference between mindsets of Congress and BJP, with that of BJP being driven by inspiration for social work and commitment inspired by the Sangh while that of Congress came from dynastic politics.

Congress earlier took potshots at Modi over putting his pinstripe monogrammed bandhgala suit on the block and said the auction was a "damage control" exercise and demanded that the process be stopped immediately and it be deposited with the 'Toshakhana'.
