Karnataka BJP on Tuesday demanded removal of Home Minister KJ George, saying he was 'incapable' of handling law and order in the state.

"...looking at the law and order situation in the state we demand the removal of Home Minister who is incapable, and appointment of an able Home Minister," State BJP President Pralhad Joshi told reporters.

Calling George "the most incapable", Joshi said he has continued only because of the "blessings from Sonia Gandhi. Because of this there is no fear among criminals and anti-social elements." He said various allegations had been surfacing against George and his family and he has to be removed.

Joshi also demanded for immediate removal of Minister for Municipal Administration and Wakf Qamarul Islam from the cabinet, on serious allegation of encroachment of Wakf property.

"If the Chief Minister does not consider this demand seriously, BJP will start an agitation in this regard," he added. Islam is accused of encroachment and sale of Wakf property in Gulbarga. Lokayukta police recently registered an FIR against him following a direction from the High Court.

Alleging that state is heading towards anarchy, Joshi said "there is no proper law and order situation in the state; from a child to women no one seems to be safe. Every day there are reports of rape and other criminal incidents, but no steps have been taken to control them."
