Bharatiya Janata Party has written a letter to the Uttar Pradesh government demanding a high-level probe into the removal of a public adress system from a temple in Kanth area of Moradabad district.

In the letter to Principal Secretary (Home), BJP state president Laxmi Kant Bajpai has demanded the government to also find out as to why "only the temple's mike was removed".

Alleging that it was a serious issue and a planned conspiracy from someone in the administration, Bajpai said that a high-level inquiry should be conducted immediately and on the basis of its report action should be taken.

He also said that the government in reply to an RTI query has said it did not have any information regarding as to when the mikes were installed at the temple in Akbarpur Chaidari village of Kanth area.

In July, clashes had erupted between BJP workers and police over a mahapanchayat called by the party to protest against the removal of the loudspeaker from the temple.

Meanwhile, Bajpai said one Chaudhary Kunwar Singh has been arrested for allegedly duping people by posing as a central BJP leader and fake documents.

Posing as Pankaj Shah the arrested person used to extort money from the people by luring them to get tickets in by-elections and appointment on different posts, he said.
